Hair Colouring

Hair colour change is a major decision – even subtle high or low lights make an impact on your look. Our colour technicians help you to choose the best shade to suit your facial features and skin tone. Their professional advice can help take the stress out of what can sometimes be a very daunting experience.

Most over-the-counter hair dyes show pictures of the expected colour result, but in reality your own hair may react very differently. Our professional colour technicians have studied the science behind hair structure and the best products to use. That means you can choose the best product for your hair and decide whether you need additional treatments.

During your pre-colour consultation, our technicians will explain the process to you and advise you on the best way to care for your colour-treated hair to keep it healthy and vibrant. Please note, it is the policy of our salon for all clients to be given a skin test at least 48 hours before having colour applied for the first time.

Balayage

Balayage is a freehand hair colour highlighting technique created by French colourists. In French, the word balayage means to sweep, which describes how the highlights are applied. Balayage highlights are painted on free hand, rather than using foils or a cap. They are applied where the colourist thinks the highlights will look best. The whole purpose of balayage highlights is to leave you with natural and fuller looking hair. This technique lets the hairdresser apply your colour in areas that they think will suit your style.  Rather than just creating a gradient effect, balayage highlights are placed throughout your hair in specific areas.

Balayage works on any hair colour, whether brown, blonde, or red. If you’re looking for low maintenance highlights and fewer touch ups, then balayage is the answer. Another benefit of this kind of highlights is that you don’t have to visit the salon for regular touch-ups. As the colour grows out, it looks intentional. Rather than creating a gradient effect, balayage highlights are placed throughout your hair in specific areas.

Ombre

Ombre comes from the French word meaning shadow. Ombré hair colour involves hair that gradually changes from dark to light, from your roots to your ends. If you like the look of Balayage but want something with a little more edge, Ombré is a good choice and like Balyage needs less maintenance than an all over colour. Whereas the balayage technique is meant to look like sun-lightened hair, Ombré can look more dramatic, if you choose.  Ombre is like colour blocking but there is a nice transition between the colours. It can look stunning on short hair and make long hair appear to have more fullness and movement.

Highlights

Highlights are small sections of hair that are lighter than the base colour. They can be placed all over the head, just the ends or as highlights around the face.  Foils  are usually used and the highlights can vary in thickness although it is becoming more popular to have what is known as “baby-lights” which are very fine highlights that create a natural look.
